JEN DENIKE at MOMA, New York

Jen DeNike will present the world premier of her performance ballet, *Scrying*, at MOMA. Museum of Modern Art, New York on January 12, 2010, 7:30-9:30pm.
Scrying is a non-narrative performance ballet conceived and directed by New York-based artist Jen DeNike and choreographed by Melissa Barak.

Inspired by George Balanchine's architectural forms and structural movements, SCRYING emphasizes repetitive patterns and gestures that translate the iconic ballerina image, merging contemporary art and classical ballet.
"Scrying" is the act of divination or obtaining spiritual visions by peering into water, a mirror, or another reflective surface; the ballerinas engage in a scrying ritual of their own, transforming an architectural space into one of ethereal vision.
